Discipline. Do you have it?

In this message, let's talk about discipline. Discipline is my word for this month, and I'm using it to guide all that we do here at FaithFocusFlow®.

Here's why we're focused on DISCIPLINE, and I think you should be too.

1) Discipline was given to us by God, and so as leaders and business-builders, we ought to use it.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

2) As leaders and business-builders, we are called to be an example to those called to follow our lead. It is only through discipline that we can add value to the lives of those we serve through leadership and not lead them astray.

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. Proverbs 10:17

3) Discipline leads to knowledge, which is essential to growing a legacy-building, wealthy organization. The alternative to 360 wealth-building knowledge is stupidity. Don't be stupid.

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid. Proverbs 12:1

4) Discipline separates short-term success from long-term sustainability. Discipline separates winners from ultimate losers.

You've all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You're after one that's gold eternally. I don't know about you, but I'm running hard for the finish line. I'm giving it everything I've got. No sloppy living for me! I'm staying alert and in top condition. I'm not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it, and then missing out myself. 1 Corinthian 9:24-27

5) Discipline creates consistency that make it possible to accomplish “good works” goals – instead of creating a path of unfinished or slow-moving projects. Discipline is the secret to the consistency of your good works, and the favor of wealth that flows from it.

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14-17

There you have the 5 reasons discipline is our focus for this month, and I highly suggest you make it a focus for you and your Work too. In my next message, I'll share our 3 areas of discipline for this month.

I recorded a video and created a handout to support the 4 Quadrant Framework for a productive, results-oriented day that I shared in my last post. You can watch the video below.

  1. I love this article because in life nothing can be accomplished without discipline. And If you analyze it, there has not been a more disciplined human being than Jesus. He would get up regularly early in the morning to pray. He would refuse to eat to pray. Even after long day of work, He would take time to pray.
He had boundaries that He would not infringed. He told His own mother, my time has not come yet.
That was a disciplined man. When you get that level of discipline, you get the level of success He had.

Now, that type of discipline is different from Proverbs 12:1, which talks more about the correction meaning of discipline. I wanted to make the distinction because accepting discipline and being discipline are two totally different sets of value.
    Thanks
