You’ve Got to Be Very Courageous

Above all, be strong and very courageous to observe carefully the whole instruction my servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or the left, so that you will have success wherever you go. Joshua 1:7

When studying the first chapter of Joshua, three phrases struck me as particularly significant for those of us who are founders, owners, and leaders and business: (i) very courageous, (ii) observe carefully, and (iii) whole instruction.

In Joshua 1:7, God makes it clear to Joshua that observing God's whole instruction to Moses requires Joshua to be very courageous (not just a little courageous). God also makes it clear that carefully (not casually) observing His whole instruction to Moses (not just a part of it) is required for success.

Today and in the days to come, I encourage you to carefully consider what you know to be the whole instruction for thoroughly structuring, executing, accomplishing what you know is necessary for success in your Work.

Carefully consider what the “whole instruction” for success means for your Work from both a corporate responsibility perspective (that includes being fiscally responsible) and a kingdom-building one (which recognizes that how you do what you do influences others for the better or worse)

Once you are clear on the entirety of what success in your Work requires (aka, the whole instruction), find peace knowing that being careful to stay the course will not always be easy. And, in fact, overcoming obstacles and resolving challenges will require you to be very courageous in carefully following the whole instruction for doing better business.

To take a short-cut in any area of business (which equates to not being careful and only following part of the instruction), will have an ultimately negative effect on the totality of your Work and your legacy.

Activate your biblically-sound, business thinking today. Here's how:

1) Get clear about the whole instruction for what is required to be successful in your Work.

  • Invest in educating yourself and hiring wise counsel.

2) Be committed to doing the whole of what success requires, not a piece of it.

  • Be prepared to invest in the future of what you want and hope to receive.

3) Build a corporate culture around your Work that makes it clear to staff, vendors, clients/customers, other stakeholders, and everyone watching, that your organization is committed to doing everything necessary for the kind of success that creates wealth AND glorifies God, regardless of difficulty or comfort. No short-cuts allowed.

  • Be the example that you want those who work with and for you to follow.

I agree that you have to be committed 100%, it’s either all or nothing when you are working towards your dreams and goals. God has blessed me this year in my small online business and I only look forward to what He has for me in the future!
