There’s Grace through Transitions

We continue our December series of reflection – contemplating how God’s grace carries us through challenges, sustains us in transitions, and prepares us to look forward with hope and great expectation—even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

The cover art for this issue comes from my time at the Palace of Monserrate in Sintra, Portugal.  Thinking about the beauty of this place brings to mind how its grounds have been thoughtfully designed to showcase its beauty, just as God’s grace shapes our lives with care and intention so we are equipped for our purpose in His will.

While at the palace, it was a blessing to take in the lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and flourishing ferns (hope you like that alliteration – lol) all around. The palace grounds have been carefully curated with plants brought from around the world, beautiful tiles reflecting Moorish culture, and even an artificial chapel ruin designed to add texture, a sense of history, and—if you ask me—create space for personal reflection.

Being on the grounds of this beautiful palace inspired me to think about the human desire to design spaces that invite rest, cultivate creativity, and encourage reflection – allowing us to think and simply be. These spaces point us toward our calling to be the best of who we are – bringing that spirit into what we do in our personal lives and in the marketplace too.

The carefully curated beauty of the Palace of Monserrate and its grounds reminded me that, even with all this human effort, it was and is God’s provision and grace that nourishes nature, allowing the grounds to continuously flourish. Just as the gardeners shaped the palace grounds, God is faithfully shaping our lives, bringing forth beauty and purpose in every season—even transition.

Let’s bring these lessons to life using our framework of Faith, Focus & Flow.

FAITH: Trust the Journey

The Bible tells us:

The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” – Psalm 37:23-24

Thinking about this passage of the Bible in the context of my time on the grounds of the Palace of Monserrate, I reflect on how this space has been home to several owners—through good times and bad—transitioning from private ownership to public access – providing visitors like me the opportunity to experience and enjoy its beauty.

Just as the palace grounds reflect a journey through seasons and the hopes of each owner, progression in our own lives moves through seasons of transition. Here’s good news for you: even when transition feels difficult, hope is never lost—if you choose to hold onto it.

Ask yourself: In what areas of my life do I need to trust God’s guidance more deeply during this season?

FOCUS: Take the Next Step

As we reflect upon the passing year, it’s easy to dwell upon what hasn’t gone as planned or still needs to be accomplished. But here’s the truth: A faith-centered transition from one season to the next doesn’t require us to figure out or complete everything at once. Instead, it calls us to be thoughtful, reflective, and in motion—strategically and purposefully.

This motion may look like taking bold steps forward, or it could be the quiet stillness of being at ease and resting, trusting God’s timing. Both require you to be intentional.

Ask yourself: What intentional step—whether active or restful—will you take today to align with God’s purpose for your life or business?

FLOW: Walk with Grace

Walking the hills and steps in Sintra was more than a notion (as my elders often say—LOL), but the effort was rewarded with incredible views and beauty at every turm. Life’s transitions are similar—grace allows us to keep moving forward, trusting God with both the process and the outcome.

Ask yourself: What step can you take today to keep moving, even if the path feels steep or uncertain?

A Haiku for Your Journey

This summer, I reconnected with my most creative side through photography and poetry (come through, English Arts degree—LOL). Inspired by the beauty of the gardens in Sintra, I wrote a haiku to capture the moment. Now, be kind … I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my stuff (thank you, Ms. Erykah Badu—LOL).

I shape the landscape,
God brings forth the vibrant bloom,
Beauty for us all.

A Prayer for You

Faithgineer, as we continue reflecting on this year and preparing for what lies ahead, my prayer is that you’ll trust in God, knowing that when you ask, He will order your steps. Whether your path feels smooth or rocky, know and trust that God’s grace is always sufficient, His strength is always present, and His plan is always for your good.

I’d love to hear from you! What stood out to you from today’s message?
