Self-mastery – through controlling your emotions

Today is day two of our month-long theme at the FaithFocusFlow® Institute for Leaders: Building Heaven on Earth through the Marketplace.

Today's topic is all about self-mastery – through controlling your emotions. Let's head over to the book of Proverbs for our anchor text.

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE:

Patience is better than power and controlling one's emotions, than capturing a city. Proverbs 16:32

FAITHGINEER™ BUSINESS APPLICATION:

The process of creating, innovating, or building anything meaningful requires self-mastery – both when you're on a high from winning, feeling low from a great challenge, or in pursuit of a deal, acquisition, or new opportunities.

In your creation, building, and expansion – remember these things:

Patience is better than power – time will reveal more about a situation than your words and actions can force.

Control is better than capture – your self-control will yield better and more sustainable results than attempting to capture and control others through force.

REALITY CHECK:

Mastering your emotions is one of the most important things you will ever do as a Faithgineer in your building of Kingdom Class businesses and relationships – both professional and personal. Mastery requires having control over your emotional responses in all situations – both exhilarating and challenging.

Controlling your emotions adds value to your life and your Work in invaluable and immeasurable ways.

For starters – mastering your emotions:

  • builds your reputation as a leader to follow;
  • greatly contributes to the prosperity of your Work in business by attracting like-minded clients, staff, colleagues, partners, and others to you; and,
  • helps you model the characteristics of Christ in the marketplace while doing business well- inspiring others to follow your lead and do the same.

I encourage you to develop and maintain practices in your life that keep you calm and help you remember who you are (a child of God and ambassador for Christ) regardless of what is going on around you – and especially when people and situations are wonky.

Deep breathing, movement, and taking a few minutes (or seconds) to realign your energy & mindset with your goals are a few suggestions to help control your emotions – especially during seasons of change.

Comment below to let me know if these suggestions help or if you need more of them.
