Business Focus:

Team-building | Client Care | Customer Service

CHARACTERpreneur™ Attribute:

Be Attentive.

Reference:

And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Lesson:

As leaders in business and ministry, we have great power to provoke the emotions and actions of those we have been called to serve. What we provoke in others is done by example and by words. What we say to those on our team and stakeholders influences how people feel about us, themselves, our company/business and that person’s work.

Words strengthen or destroy trust and loyalty, both essential to building a corporate culture that fosters environmental and financial success.

Your words can and will provide feelings of love, commitment and excitement about the work your business is called to do in the marketplace – or they can provoke emotions that are unhelpful at best and harmful at worst.

  • How you (as a leader) behave towards staff, clients, suppliers, other stakeholders, and even competitors greatly influences how our team behaviors when we are watching and especially when we are not watching.
  • What you DO in business (and life) speaks volumes and can provoke the “good works” of your team or “works” that are not so good.

Here’s the thing … “bad works” have a habit of catching up with your business leading to lost business, penalties, fines and sometimes worse.

Application:

Constantly check your words and actions (in public and private) to be sure that what you do and what you say are provoking love and good works.
