Stay in the fight.

The journey to success at Work in business and our careers is filled with twists, turns, and plenty of things that are not righteous (e.g., cheating, lying, gossiping, you name it).

At times we can feel overwhelming pressure to do the opposite of what we know is the right thing to do, to get where we want to be in terms of financial wealth, notability, and influence.

Here’s the thing:

The Word says God prepared good works for you and me to do before we were born. The Word also says God will finish the good work that He began in us.

The only way for God to finish this good work that He began in us, is for us to stay in the fight to bring heaven into the business world. We do this by not giving in to temptations that would allow us to do anything necessary for the visible signs of material wealth. These signs of wealth will become trappings of wealth if you’re not thoughtful and careful.

The Bible provides lots of wisdom to guide our work here on earth so that God can complete what He began in us.

Five verses, in particular, provide a blueprint for how to #stayinthefight of making the world of business more like heaven so we can celebrate the #fightfinished when our work is done.

The Word says:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. Read Hebrews 12:1-2

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9:24

So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. 2 Corinthians 8:11

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

Activate Your Christ-Centered Biblically-Sound Thinking:

As a faith-based founder, owner, and leader in business, you started your journey in Work on fire for God. Stay focused on Jesus, not the world, while you Work, so that what you do and how you do it continues to be a beacon of light that leads to Christ.

Stay fueled on your journey (aka your race for the Lord) by studying the Word of God. Consistent and constant study provides the power for your initial readiness to start working for God through business to be matched by your completing what you started.

#StayInTheFight so that you can see your #FightFinished.

Now that you know how fight through temptations so that you can run to win at Work through business, what will you do?

  • Love this! Each morning, I get up, and read my Bible for 15 minutes or so. I feel it really helps me stay focused on my goals throughout the day, and I am reminded that I need to steer clear of things that do not serve me (gossiping, holding negative thoughts, not being forgiving). I am also making sure to attend the weekly Bible study at my church, which is usually hosted at my friend’s house. I love that gathering so much.

  • Always stay in the fight! You’ll be surprised at what you can achieve with some patience.
