Let's start this 12-part series by developing a spiritually aligned framework for decision-making. Decision-making is the first step in developing strategic innovations in business that are aligned with your values and your faith.
Here's the framework:
1. Seek Divine Insight.
The Bible says …
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
In business, this part of the framework looks like starting every single decision you make with prayer, asking for God's wisdom to guide you.
2. Evaluate Ethical Implications.
The Bible says ….
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 7:12
This part of the framework looks like contemplating the impact of your decision to make sure you've done all that you can do to be aligned with the Golden Rule of treating others as you wish to be treated, no matter what decision you have to make. Even a decision with a terrible result can be made with compassion and through your self-control.
3. Be Mindful of Your Values.
The Bible tells us that
“the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23
This part of the framework looks like testing the intent of your decisions against the fruit of the Spirit, to ensure they are made through the lens of your core spiritual and ethical values, even in difficult situations in which there are winners and losers.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the opportunity to come before in prayer. We are grateful to have a direct line of communication with you and that you allow us to find you, when we seek you with our whole heart. We ask that You guide our decisions in the marketplace with Your wisdom, grace, mercy, and love.
Help us to lead others in our personal and professional lives with the fruit of the Spirit top of mind, making decisions that honor You and empower those around us.
May our Work (with a capital W) be a vessel for Your Work in the world, making the earth more like it is in heaven.
